FPSY 609 - Intervention & Treatment in Forensic Psychology This course focuses on interventions for and treatment of victims and offenders in the
forensic system. Students will review the major mental illnesses and models of
intervention and treatment, particularly those suited to forensic contexts. Dialectical
Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other trauma informed cognitive-behavioral strategies for
engagement such as motivational interviewing, crisis intervention and de-escalation
techniques will be presented. Students will have opportunities to practice these skills in
a variety of classroom activities.
