FPSY 608 - Substance Use Assessment & Treatment This course educates students regarding the effects of psychoactive substances on
mental health and well-being, with a particular focus on co-occurring disorders, the
developmental impact of substance use, and larger cultural and socio-economic
diversity issues. This course is taught from a harm reduction perspective, and will
introduce students to current theories of dependence, methods and protocols for
detoxification, relapse prevention, and evidence-based treatment models.
