ART 385 - The Art of Game Design


Upper Division

THE ART OF GAME DESIGN introduces the core concepts, aesthetics, and history of game design with an emphasis on the creative aspects of game development. Through group discussion and lecture, software demonstrations, and class projects, students will learn multiple approaches to game development, ranging from tabletop to screen-based games. Course discussion topics will include the history of game design, genre, narrative development and world building, game mechanics, asset creation, character development, and more.
