SOC 204 - Social Problems Lower Division
The sociological study of social problems is as much about understanding how and why we collectively view certain issues in society as “problems” as much as it is an investigation into the social harms these issues may cause. We need to know how social problems such as homelessness are collectively defined, subjectively understood, culturally framed, and debated in the public discourse before we can learn what can be done to reduce the harms they may cause.
