Mexico has a rich and diverse musical tradition that includes a robust and exciting genre of pop music. Mexican pop music is divided into two eras: 1900 to 1980 and 1980 to present day. This course will focus on the most current one of the two. Students do not need any previous musical experience to take this course. Mexican pop artists and the music studied in this course include: Timbiriche, Juan Gabriel, Yuri, Garibaldi, Magneto, Gloria Trevi, Thalia, Selena, Luis Miguel, La Onda Vaselina, Alejandra Guzman, among many others.
